We love maths!

What shall we blog about this week? The ideas flowed... planting hairy brains, fruit and vegetables in season, Ruru's...

After a big brainstorm and discussion we decided that this week we would blog about what we are doing in maths...

We start with the biggest number. (Heidi)
Symmetry means things are the same on each side. (Oliver-Josh)
Maths makes our brains hairy. (Jasmine)
Maths is cool because you can learn about big numbers. (Aaryn)
Our game box has the caterpillar game, I love it. (Bradley)

These girls are pretty proud of the ideas...

Here are some examples of math problems we are learning to solve:

1. What is this number? How many tens and ones does the number have?

2. What is this number? How many tens and ones does the number have?

3. What is this number? How many tens and ones does the number have?

4. Which number is bigger, number 2 or number 3?

Have a go!

Term 3 Book Week

Last week was book week, wow it was a full on!

On Monday we had Grandparents and Dads day. Thank you to all those who came in and read with us, what a treat.

Thank you also to the kind and caring Sarah- you truly are a delight and we are lucky to have you helping us in Ruru!

On Tuesday we had Buddy Class with Kakapo. We got to wear our PJs to school and had toast and milk with our big buddies while we read.

On Wednesday we had a special visitor - Maria Gill! She is a children's author and we had a blast learning about some of her stories, especially when she got out her cute puppets. If you want to learn more about her : www.mariagill.co.nz

On Friday we got to dress up as our favourite 'animal book character.'

We had a parade and showed off our cool costumes...

These were some of our favourites from other classrooms...

And best dressed goes to...Anika (voted by Charlie our Student Councillor and Miss Welch). Anika was lucky enough to win a Grandma McGarvey Book!

With special guest hugs from Geronimo Stilton.
