Blogging Buzz

Kia Ora!
Welcome to Week 6...wow time is flying. We want to show off some of the things we have been doing in reading this week. After a brainstorm and quick write session we came up with these things...

"I love reading because you always get different books. We do fun activities." Lily

"Inferencing means to 'read between the lines.' " Heidi

We have proud Rurus...

 "We learn about punctuation like ! ? ... ""  , ." Oliver-Josh and Jasmine

Did you learn anything? All of these things make our brains hairy...

Poetry -

Each morning we share our favourite poems. They are ones that we have in our poem books, off the internet and ones we make up ourselves. We are working on using expression and making our reading exciting for the audience. Some of us have actions to go with our poems!
Abbie wrote a fantastic poem on Rurus...

"Rurus are nice.
Rurus are caring.
Rurus are smart.
Rurus always do their best work.
Rurus are helpful.
Rurus are good at there work."

By Abbie

Sometimes our books have really exciting follow up activities... This group was learning about pens and pencils. In the 'old days' they used ink pens so we had a go...it was a very slow process and we are glad our pens have ink in them already!

We also use whiteboards to practice our words. Fin found some 'f' words.

We have been writing lots of letters, hopefully you have received one from us!?

 Maths -

Teen and Ty Numbers :

"Numbers in the teens they start with a 1"
"Ty numbers tell us their names"

We like to boogie and sing along to our math warm ups...

Check out these great songs...

What is your favourite book? Have you got a favourite reading activity? Why?

Lots of love,
Ruma Ruru :)

  8. Hi this is Bradley. Mom and I have been searching on the internet for Orange ideas and we have found this out about Oranges:

    1) Oranges make great tasting juice
    2) If you put it in your garbage disposal it will make it smell nice :)
    3) Its a good source of Vitamin C to help fight colds
    4) If you put orange peels on the garden surface it will keep slugs away
    5) If you also put orange peels outside of the house it will keep neighbouring cats away.
Thanks see you all at school
    Cheers
    Bradley

  9. Mac (with his Mum) has just finished the Megasaurus Mash-Up Series. They are a set of 8 books about a caveboy with a big 'hairy' brain. He meets and become friends with a T-Rex who also has a big brain. Arg is always solving problems but sometimes having a big brain means he thinks too much and gets himself into trouble along the way. These stories are really funny and have great illustrations. Mac says, "I like the dinosaurs in the stories. And, if Arg was crossed with a velociraptor then he would be an Argosaurus."
