Keeping you up to date...

Kia Ora,

We have been so busy that we haven't had time for our blog, oh no! Time for a quick 'fill in' of some of our highlights over the last few weeks...

We had a fun fluro day to help raise money for Life Skills Cambridge. We dressed up in our best fluro gears and had to look after a 'breakable' friend.

Our class councillor Charlie, chose Heidi as the 'best dressed.' Good work girls.

Anika managed to win big at Group Day...

Ruru's have been working hard with all areas of their learning...

Great numbers Carter -

Lovely alphabet and sight words Lia -

'ng' detectives Anika and Mac-

Excellent spelling Edie and Lia-

Super spelling Sophie-

'ay' detectives Abbie, Heidi and Alicia-

Fantastic spellers Lia and Fin-

Extra hard working Eva and her rainbow to make 10-

 Lovely spelling Lily-

We have been practising for Athletics day. Here we are having a special lesson with a 'pro.' We learnt to scissor kick so we can do high jump.

Plenty of plays have been taking place. Thanks Oliver-Josh, Jaxon and Bradley for
your entertaining play 'Don't Forget Grandma.'

And thanks to Oliver C, Heidi and Charlie for their fun play too...

Stay tuned for pictures from our 'pirate' week and Kiwiana Showcase...

Awesome Ag Day...

We had a fun filled agriculture day on Friday. Three Ruru's represented with their pets. It takes a lot of patience, friendship, trust and compassion to rear an animal so congratulations girls, you have done an amazing job looking after your pets, we are super proud of your achievements!

Of course we came out to support our fellow Rurus and their cute pets!

Hopefully you will all have a go at raising a pet next year, as animals are amazing and just like you, when they grow...

...they still want to be your friend!!

Good luck for Group day tomorrow girls... Bye for now :)

Kiwiana Icon Projects

Hi!

The Ruru's are well under way with their own kiwiana icon reports. They are busy researching the following information:

I chose this icon because...
It is important to New Zealand because...
It looks like...
You find it...

We are already learning so much and sprinting towards answering our Big Question:

Why is Kiwiana important for New Zealand's culture?

Some of the icons being covered...

Watch this space for some answers and amazing projects...
Love Ruma Ruru :)

Ruru Takes On Kiwiana Town

Wow, what a great trip! Ruma Ruru got up close with some of the famous kiwiana icons that line the Otorohanga streets and special Sir Ed Hillary Walkway. They then roamed the Kiwi Bird Park and recognised many of the birds that our classrooms are named after...of course the Ruru was a favourite among many.

A HUGE thank you to the parents who came along and helped out. We hope you had as much fun as we did, we couldn't have done it without you so THANKS!

Check out our slideshow for a sneak peak at some of (the many) awesome photos that got snapped that day... enjoy :)

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing holiday. Here is your chance to tell others about your holiday. Just write or email me your story and a picture (optional) and I'll pop it on the blog. First up:

Anika:

Anika has been so proud of her flowers.  Watering regularly and so happy when they bloomed. Concentrating...

Great work Anika using your Nature SMART!

During the holidays I went to Wellington and I saw a skeleton of a blue whale at Te Papa. It was amazing, I loved it!!

How exciting Jaxon, I love that place too!

Another Ruru on holiday:

The holidays were super fun, we were lucky to have my Grandma here. We escaped to the beach and did a fun trip from Waihi Town to Waikino in the Train, we also went to Butterfly Creek, where beside seeing the butterfly we saw a crocodile!!!! And they made some really nice desserts :)
